Sound familiar?

The worries we hear most, and what we do about them

Every new tutor means starting again.

One tutor, every week

Your child works with the same person, who learns how they think and what gets in the way. No re-explaining.

School moves too fast for them.

Their pace, not the class pace

One idea at a time, checked before moving on. Shorter sessions if that works better.

I never know if it is actually helping.

A report after every lesson

What was covered, what clicked, what we change next time. In writing, every time.

What a lesson looks like

Calm, structured, and never rushed

  • A familiar start. The same tutor, the same routine, a quick recap of last time.
  • One thing at a time. A worked example first, then your child tries it with support. No wall of text.
  • Practice that fits. Short retrieval tasks on Exceed Prep between lessons rather than long revision sessions.
  • Honest feedback. The tutor writes up what worked and what to adjust, and you get it the same day.
How we adapt

Adjusted to your child, not watered down

The subject content stays the same. What changes is how it is taught, how long for and how it is practised.

Two 45-minute sessions often beat one long one. We agree what suits.

Report after every lesson

What was covered, what worked, what to change next time. Adjustments are written into the plan so nothing depends on memory.

A plan you can see

Everything written down, nothing left to memory

A diagnostic that looks at barriers as well as gaps, a plan you can share with school or an EHCP review, and a report after every lesson.

Talk to us about SEND support
How it starts

Three steps to get started

01

A consultation

Twenty minutes with our team. Tell us about your child, their needs and what has and has not worked.

02

The right tutor, then a diagnostic

We match on experience and personality, and the first session finds the gaps and the barriers around them.

03

A plan that adjusts

Lessons, practice and reports every week. If something is not working, the plan changes.

Our commitments

What every family gets

Same tutor every weekConsistency first. Your child is never passed around.
A report after every lessonWritten, the same day, in plain English.
Exceed Prep platformPractise answering exactly as examiners want.
No long contractMonthly plans end with one month’s written notice.

Exceed Tutoring provides supplementary one-to-one tuition. We are not a specialist SEND school or a diagnostic service, and we do not provide therapy or formal assessments. Where a student’s needs are beyond what we can safely and appropriately support online, we will say so in the consultation.

FAQ

SEND questions

Which needs can you support?
Most commonly dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, autism, anxiety and school-based avoidance, including students out of school. Tell us about your child in the consultation and we will be honest about whether we are the right fit.
Are your tutors SEND specialists?
Our tutors are subject specialists, many with experience of students with additional needs, and we match on that experience and on personality. We are not a therapeutic or specialist school service.
Can lessons be shorter?
Yes. Many students do better with two 45-minute sessions than one long one. Session length and frequency are agreed at the review and can change as we learn what works.
Do you work with an EHCP or school?
With your permission we will read the EHCP or school report and build the plan around it. Our written lesson reports can be shared with school or at an annual review.
